The pleasant Shakota Trail meanders through deeply shaded hardwood forest above the western shore of Lake Mendocino. We expect to encounter a number of oak species and other native hardwoods trees along with a rich understory of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, and ferns. Meet at Shakota Trail (South end parking), end of Observation Road at 9am. Bring lunch or snacks and dress appropriately for the weather. The hike will last 3 to 4 hours. If you have questions call Kerry at 707-489-1500. Heavy rain cancels.
