Bill Saxton, hailing from Harlem, New York, owner of the historic speakeasy Bill’s Place where Billie Holiday first sang, is renowned for his mastery of the saxophone and his deep roots in the jazz tradition. Paula Samonte, native San Franciscan and Mendocino county icon is an accomplished jazz vocalist and pianist who has worked with some of the most respected names in jazz. As a local honoree, Samonte’s return for this celebration is the only festival she performs in with this collection of great regional musicians.
