Mendocino Whale Festival
Enjoy wine, chowder and craft beer tasting while exploring the beautiful village of Mendocino where there are plenty of whales to view from the surrounding Mendocino Headlands State Park. Taste some of Mendocino County’s finest varietals in shops and galleries throughout Mendocino village. A complimentary trolley will be provided for your convenience. Saturday, March 2
Chowder Tasting & Competition Crown Hall in Mendocino is chowder central for an indulgent taste of tasty chowders from some of the best chefs on the coast. You get to declare the winner at the Mendocino Whale Festival. This event will be from 11AM to 1PM, or until the chowder runs out (get there early!). Tickets for the chowder tasting are $10.
Beer Tasting Craft Brews from North Coast Brewing Company are only $5 and include a FREE 3 oz. pour of North Coast Brewing Company’s new North Coast Steller IPA! Proceeds from Stellar provide support for marine mammal research and rescue.
Wine Tasting: Almost two dozen wineries from Mendocino County come together to pour wine for tasters in Mendocino Village. Tickets are $35 pre-sale or $40 at the door. Tickets also available at the Ford House where you will also be able to pick up your Mendo Whale wine glass/es. Remember to bring your ID!

The Ford House in Mendocino is home to “WhaleTales” an exhibit featuring bones from a Gray Whale, information regarding the gray whale migration, and an interactive exhibit that lets you quiz yourself on whale facts. Throughout the month of March.
Docent-led whale watch walks are scheduled during the Mendocino Whale Festival at 11AM and 2PM. on Saturday, March 2 and at 11AM on Sunday March 3. A limited number of binoculars and spotting scopes are available. Meet at the Ford House.
Try some Thanksgiving Coffee at the Ford House on Saturday only from noon to 4PM.
Boat Tours – Book a whale-watching boat tour to encounter the whales up close. Boats leave from Noyo Harbor in Fort Bragg. Call the Chamber for referrals at 707-961-6300.
Point Cabrillo Light Station A spectacular opportunity for family fun awaits visitors during the Mendocino Whale Festival at the Light Station from 10AM to 4PM each day. In addition to a grandstand view of the annual gray whale migration, you may visit the 240 gallon saltwater aquarium and our Marine Science Exhibit. This is a spectacular place to watch for whales!
