Willits

Nestled in Little Lake Valley, Willits is the “Heart of Mendocino County” and “The Gateway to the Redwoods,” declarations spelled out on the sign that straddles Main Street. Trivia alert: Willits is home to the first stoplight on US 101 north of San Francisco!

Entering Willits from the south you will find traveler’s necessities – motels, gas stations, auto shops, and supermarkets. But just north of Highway 20, the route to the coast, lies downtown and many of Willits’ small-town charms. Plan a day to ride the Skunk Train with a windy ride into the magnificent redwood forests.
