Riveting Riverside Walks

Where there’s an ocean, there are rivers, and a walk by the riverside is one of life’s great pleasures. Try some of these to truly unplug and let your wind wander by the rippling waters.

1.
Big River Trail

When you’re in the village of Mendocino, a visit to Big River Beach is obligatory, but if you’re in the mood for a little more of hike, go ahead and continue onto the Haul Road which follows Big River backwards from the sea and up into the Woodlands State Park.

2.
Gualala River Redwood Park

Don’t sleep on Mendocino’s South Coast, which includes funky and eclectic towns like Gualala and Point Arena. In Gualala, this gorgeous park contains some stunning giant redwoods and a lovely river for camping, fishing or hiking.

3.
Low Gap Park

This forested 80-acre parcel is situated along Orr Creek and offers a picnic area, large open greens, and a frisbee golf course. Hike the trails that crisscross the park with great views of the Ukiah Valley and beyond. Dog-friendly for your four-footed companion, along with two dog parks for them to run and play.
